General Practical Competence

There is no actual mark given for this component. Essentially it is your teacher's feeling about your overall practical ability at the end of the year. However, you must have completed a range of practical work (organic, inorganic and physical) over the year. Your teacher will have to identify which practicals you have completed for this. They are likely to be the core practicals, marked with an asterisk on this disk.

You should aim to work neatly and carefully and at a reasonable pace during practical work. It will help if you are prepared for the practicals that you are about to do. If your teacher is following the practical work on this disk try to look through each practical on the disk before you meet it in class.

This assessment is unlikely to cause you any problems unless you have missed a lot of practical work over the year. If you think this is the case check with your teacher that you have completed enough work for this component.
