In an experiment to measure the purity of a sample of calcium carbonate by titration, a student weighed out 0.136 g of calcium carbonate powder in a weighing boat. This was then transferred to a conical flask for reaction with hydrochloric acid.
In their error analysis the student identifies a ± 0.001 g balance error, and also states a further error that some of the calcium carbonate powder will have stuck to the weighing boat and been lost in transfer. Do you agree with this analysis? Check here .
