This is another good practice for the measurement practical assessment and allows us to further develop the students' concept of experimental accuracy. It is nice for the students to make up their own iodate solution from the samples they prepared in the last practical. However, some students will not have managed to make enough to do this and you will get a range of final answers. We always ask our students to make up the solution for the practice, but then use a standard iodate solution for the titrations. This means we should all be getting the same answer and the exercise of getting the students to all put their answers on the board for comparison is useful.
