Teacher and technician notes 4.4g

There are a number of experiments here, with some of them being reasonably hazardous. Depending on the group, you may wish to demonstrate one or two of them. It is worth emphasising to students that there is an unusually large proportion of endothermic reactions in this collection.

Materials:

Ammonium nitrate (5 g) Ethanoic acid glacial (5 cm3)
Ammonium carbonate (3 g) Magnesium ribbon (3 cm length)
Ammonium chloride (2 g) Sodium nitrite (1 g)
Barium hydroxide-8-water (3 g) Zinc carbonate (2 g)
Limewater (2 cm3)
Test tube (3) 100 cm3 beaker (2)
Tongs & test tube holders Bunsen burner
Tripod Gauze
Heat-proof mat Glass rod
Balance with accuracy of at least ± 0.1 g -10 to 110ºC thermometer
