Former name: Acetic acid. The concentrated acid is also known as glacial ethanoic acid. The concentrated acid causes severe burns (do not make the mistake of assuming that a weak acid will not be corrosive). The vapour is very irritating to the eyes and respiratory system. Wear eye protection. If possible, use a fume cupboard when using the concentrated acid. |

Dangerous with: Manganate(VII), nitric acid, peroxides. Violent reactions may occur.
Disposal: Small quantities can be washed down the drain, diluting well with water. Use a fume cupboard if disposing of the concentrated acid in this way.
