Teacher and technician notes (2.4d)

This experiment can be done using plastic pens, but much better results are obtained if you speak nicely to your Physics Department and borrow their polythene rods. It will run more smoothly if you set up six stations with a different liquid at each one.

Materials:

Cyclohexane (50 cm3) Dichloromethane (50 cm3)
Ethanol (50 cm3) Hexane (50 cm3)
Propanone (50 cm3)
Plastic rods and cloths Glass rod
Rulers 100 cm3 beakers
